Scott Brown – Managing Director

Scott Brown is the founder and managing director of REDFERN ASSOCIATES. Scott’s experience in China began in 1997 with investment projects including China’s largest aquarium and Shanghai SOE leather tannery joint ventures for VC and a publicly listed company. 

He furthered his career as China CFO, then Managing Director of a Multi-national Packaging Group, Asia Development Director for an NYSE publicly listed talent company, and later as Director of Finance and Board Chairman for a leading European Measuring Equipment company. 

In 2008 Scott was key note speaker on China Strategy and Market Entry for New Zealand’s historic China FTA Scott holds Accounting and post graduate finance degrees from the University of Otago, is a professionally qualified and registered member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants.


Forrest Zhang – Senior Consultant

Forrest holds a Bachelor degree of Electronic Engineering from Fudan University, Shanghai. His experience includes business development, supply chain and strategy development in China and Asia. He started his career with Toshiba Group, then as China Representative for Overland Storage (OVRL, NASDAQ). Before joining RedFern, Forrest was based in Singapore with Transcom International as Business Development Manager covering South-East Asia. 

Forrest has accumulated specialist China research experience in food and beverage, technology and supply chain for many of NZ’s leading companies and is responsible for a number of NZ government reports on China markets including seafood and meat. He is a member of ASQ (American Society for Quality) and awarded a "Certificate of Achievement" in the USA.


Jenny Zhang – Research Consultant

Jenny specializes in business analysis. Prior to Redfern, Jenny worked in management consulting firm, focusing on market entry and merger & acquisition projects, assisting European companies on China market entry. Jenny has completed numerous research projects in F&B, wine, health foods, dairy and supply chain. Jenny holds degrees in International Business and marketing from the capital of her native Hebei province.


Edward Zhang – Senior Consultant – Accounting & Finance

Edward holds Bachelor degree of Finance and Accounting from Shanghai Maritime University. He is an ACCA member. Before joining RedFern, he worked for Ernst & Young with valuable experience about Auditing and Financial Consulting service of Chinese IPO, listed companies and advisory work. He also worked for Wanlong CPA before which is one of the top local CPA firms in China. Edward is familiar with manufacture, real estate and energy industries. Besides auditing roles, he also has extensive experience in Due Diligence, Internal Control, M&A and Valuation.    


Emma Li – Consultant – Project Manager

Emma holds Bachelor a degree in International economy and trade from Fudan University. Before joining RedFern, she worked for Ernst & Young (reporting to Edward) with valuable experience about Auditing and Financial Consulting service of Chinese IPO, listed companies and world famous foreign invested companies. Previously Emma worked at L’Oreal China as an intern conducting intelligence and market research. Emma is familiar with manufacture, service and retailing industries. Besides auditing roles, Emma works in regulatory research of new rules and implementation of them and contributed to producing corporate publications on many subjects.
